What is the Ovarian Reserve test, and what does it test for?

 

Our at-home Anti-Müllerian Hormone Test (AMH) is a simple test that estimates your ovarian reserve (number of eggs left in your ovaries). Ovarian Reserve can predict your future response to ovarian stimulation. Knowing this will help your healthcare provider assess your fertility and help you make a plan. This is a simple at-home finger-prick collection test with online results available in 2 to 4 days from the time your sample is received at our lab.

What's tested?

  • Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH)

Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) is a glycoprotein produced by small follicles (unfertilised eggs) in the ovaries. AMH level increases significantly at puberty, reaching a peak at early adulthood and declines as women age and diminishes after menopause.The level of AMH is used as an indicator of ovarian reserve or fertility status. 

AMH results should be assessed in the context of a woman's age. 

This test can be accompanied by an echography or additional imaging techniques in order to determine the number of follicles present in the ovary.

The AMH Test may be taken by any woman who has infertility or at high risk of infertility.

Infertility is the failure to achieve pregnancy within 12 months of unprotected sex or donor insemination in women who are younger than 35, or 6 months for women older than 35.

  • You’re 18 years of age or over
  • You haven’t taken hormonal contraception for at least 3 months:

Hormonal contraceptives can impact AMH results and give a falsely low result in some instances. Please consult your fertility doctor if you have any questions.
